It's not every day you get to step into someone else's fairytale, but every now and then, a session comes along that feels exactly like that.
When Chris first reached out, his plan seemed simple. Book a couples session while he was visiting Townsville for the weekend. He mentioned they hadn't had any updated, printable photos together in a while, and honestly, how many people can say their partner organised a photoshoot for them? It already felt special.
As we started planning, the story unfolded into something so much more.
Chris was travelling up from Canberra for the weekend to celebrate his birthday while Tegan was right here at home, completely unaware of what was about to happen. Quietly, behind the scenes, he was also planning to propose during the session. The kind of moment you only get one chance to get right, and he had thought of everything.
What made it even more meaningful was how personal it was. Tegan had given Chris a collection of 39 handwritten cards the year before, each filled with memories and love. During the session, he pulled out one of those cards, his favourite, and read it aloud to her. And then, in the most heartfelt, intimate moment, he got down on one knee.
Completely surprised, completely emotional, completely perfect.
Being trusted to capture something like this is never something I take lightly. These are the moments that become part of a family's story. The ones that are retold for years to come, shown to future children, held onto forever.
And this one? This one felt like magic from start to finish.
